I didn’t set out to build something to change the world. I built PopBy because I was lonely.

The crazy thing was I had felt lonely for years despite living in amazing cities like New York City and Los Angeles; sometimes being surrounded by millions of people amplifies the feeling of loneliness.

To us, it’s crazy to think we don’t know our neighbours - that we are so incredibly connected, but have a hard time finding people locally who share the same interests or have solutions to problems we have.

Connecting You to Your Real World

PopBy is designed to connect users to their real world in order to add more value to their real life. It’s designed to connect with the people around you - like neighbours, like the folks that visit the same café or school you do, the ones you constantly cross paths with but might never connect with.

We hope this will lead to a drastic decline in feeling lonely or socially isolated. Going up to strangers or “getting out there” can be daunting for a lot of people, but the desire to connect is still there; that’s why we aim to make connecting with everyone around you so much easier.

For Businesses Too

PopBy is designed to help real businesses and stores connect to their in store visitors in a deeper and richer way than current social platforms offer. With PopBy, businesses can place messages on their store for visitors who are there to read, make a great offer to actual visitors, ask a question, or strengthen the relationship beyond the visit by having them follow your store.

Our Simple Mission

The point of PopBy is simple: to make the real world more discoverable, meaningful, and connected for everyone. We hope that by offering people the ability to communicate through the places they care about, we enable a deeper and richer set of opportunities for people to discover new things to love - in both their neighbourhoods and any new place they visit.

Physically being somewhere should be rewarding, but until now social platforms have not leveraged reality as a connector of people and places who share that same place - this changes now with PopBy.
